KOLEJ TEKNOLOGI TIMUR (KTT) is a Private Higher Learning Institution which started its operation on the 6th January 1997.

KTT is fully owned by a Bumiputra Company registered under the name of Hiraki Timur Sdn Bhd. The majority shareholder of this company is Kumpulan PM Melati Sdn Bhd, a company owned by Yang Hormat Dato’ Mohd Sarit bin Hj Yusoh, former Member of Parliament for the state of Temerloh, Chairman of Kurnia Setia Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary company of the State of Pahang and also former Executive Chairman of KFC Holdings (M) Bhd. Other shareholders are Y.Bhg. Dato’ Mohd Zahudi bin Hj Abdul Jalil, former Deputy Director General (Education) of MARA, Encik Mohd Som bin Hj Sulong and Datin Hjh Norayini bt Ali, an Academician.

In January 1997, KTT started its operation with its maiden intake of GCE ‘A’ Level Programme and University Foundation Programme (UFP) with only 12 students. Graduates from these programmes were able to proceed to their first year degree in the United Kingdom. These programmes were in collaboration with David Game College, London.

In July 1997, the UKM Matriculation Centre agrees to franchise its Science Matriculation programme to KTT. A total of 53 Bio-Science students registered at KTT, Taman Melawati.

In 1998, KTT also conducted Matriculation Science programme for UPM and USM. A total of 200 students from UPM and 100 students from USM were sent to KTT.

In the same year, together with UPM, KTT started a 2 year Diploma course in Computer Science Programme. The diploma course proved successful with a passing rate for this programme at KTT is 98%. At the same time, KTT also conducted a Certificate in Computer Science Programme, especially designed for SPM students who do not qualify to enter into Diploma programme. Both these programmes have been accreditated by the National Accreditation Board (LAN). 

In the year 1999, KTT, based on its current academic achievement at the time was entrusted by the Ministry of Education Malaysia to conduct the MINISTRY OF EDUCATION’S MATRICULATION PROGRAMME at KTT. 

With a very high success rate for the Government’s matriculation programme at KTT, on 9th June 2001, KTT is proud to be the first college to receive the Best Academic Award “Kolej Terbaik Akademik” (Best Academic College) for Matriculation Programme from YB Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Musa Mohamed, Minister of Education.

KTT has successfully conducted the programme until 2008, when the Matriculation Programme was rescinded due to a change in government policy.

In the year of 2003, the Public Services Department (JPA) agrees to send their sponsored students to KTT to study Cambridge A-Level Programme before pursuing their studies in India and Indonesia in the field of medicine. The first batch of students passed with excellent results and have successfully received placements into universities in India and Indonesia.

On the 10th October 2005, the University of Cambridge International Examination Board at the Cambridge Brilliance in Malaysia Awards Ceremony, awarded ‘TOP IN THE WORLD AWARD FOR PHYSICS’ and ‘2ND BEST IN MALAYSIA AWARD’ for the Cambridge A-Level June 2005 Examination to one of our students. This was a first for many Top In The World Awards that KTT students will garner.

In the year of 2004, MARA entrusted KTT with a batch of sponsored students to study Cambridge A-Level Programme before placement of their students in the medical universities in India. 

On 2004, KTT signed an MOA with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), to conduct Diploma in Finance and Banking.

On 17 March 2006, KTT signed an MOA with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to run their Diploma and Pre-Diploma Programmes.

On 21st September 2006, 2 of KTT UPM Diploma students did were awarded “ANUGERAH TERBAIK KESELURUHAN’ (Best Overall Award) dan ‘ANUGERAH TERBAIK AKADEMIK’ (Best Academic Award) at the 8th UPM-IPTS Convocation Ceremony.

On 18th October 2007, 6 KTT students was awarded the ‘TOP IN THE WORLD FOR MATHEMATICS AND BIOLOGY’ for the June 2007 Cambridge A-Level Examination by the Cambridge Brilliance in Malaysia Awards Ceremony.

On the 23rd October 2008, at the Cambridge International Examinations brilliance in Malaysia 2008 Awards Ceremony, another 15 students swept the awards ‘TOP IN THE WORLD FOR MATHEMATICS’ and ‘TOP IN MALAYSIA AWARD’ for 1 Physics student, 1 Chemistry student and 1 Biology student for the Cambridge A-Level June 2008.

On the 19th November 2009, 1 more student was awarded the ‘TOP IN THE WORLD’ for Mathematics at the Brilliance Award Ceremony at Armada Hotel, PJ.
